Mildred Arroyo McClain, PhD  

President

Dr. Mildred Arroyo McClain is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Sciences Department at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine (UNLV SDM). She has developed extensive service-based learning courses at the UNLV SDM, conducted 11 research studies resulting in over 60 presentations/publications within the dental profession, and authored and/or been the Principal Investigator on 11 research/teaching grants totaling $1,890,053. 

Dr. McClain is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) and she is the UNLV SDM HDA Student Hispanic Chapter Faculty Advisor, which she founded in 2007. She is also the Chair of the HDA Governance Committee. Since 2002, Dr. McClain has been an active member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and received the 2008 American Dental Education Association Excellence in Teaching Award for scholarship and innovation in dental education. She is an ADEA Enid Neidle Fellow and completed her three-year term on the Enid Neidle Selection committee at the 2011 ADEA conference. She is also the ADEA Women’s Liaison Officer for the UNLV SDM. Dr. McClain is currently the ADEA Minority Affairs (MAFF) Section Chair and was past chair of the Practice Management, Minority Affairs, and the Gerontology and Geriatric Education Sections.  Dr. McClain was appointed to the ADEA Minority Affairs Advisory Committee, a three-year term, which began at the 2011 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition.

Cecilia Maldonado-Daniels, PhD

Dr. Cecelia Maldonado is an Associate Professor in Workforce Education and Development in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, School of Environmental and Public Affairs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received her Ph.D. from Penn State University and has been a faculty member at UNLV since 2000 and is the Immediate Past Chair of the Faculty Senate.

Her research interests include Latino educational and workplace issues; Latina women and leadership; technology training; and generations in the workplace on which she has published numerous scholarly papers and book chapters. She has also made numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

Dr. Maldonado is an active member of the university family. She currently serves as program and graduate coordinator of the Ph.D. in Workforce Development and Organizational Leadership program in the School of Environmental and Public Affairs. She recently held a faculty appointment in the College of Education, where she served the college in various capacities. She has been a member of the Faculty Senate and more recently the 2010-2011 Faculty Senate Chair, the first Latina to hold this post. She now looks forward to actively serving in her new faculty appointment in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, School of Environmental and Public Affairs. She is also active with other greater Las Vegas organizations.
